Afghan Hands is a finalist in the 2009 BBC World Challenge, a global competition aimed at projects showing enterprise and innovation at a grassroots level. To support our voting campaign for the Challenge, we have developed a bold and exciting initiative: Afghan Hands 60-Second Superstar Screen-Test Project.

The concept is a salute to the tenacity, energy and verve of women of Afghanistan who prevail against a backdrop of threat, invisibility and powerlessness. The women in Afghan Hands are grandmothers, sisters, aunts, mothers and daughters who have endured test, upon test to arrive, exhausted but determined at our door. We are about to release the concept on-line, inviting people from every corner of the world to upload footage to our site -- celebrating extraordinary women crafting futures for themselves and their families in the shadow of ever-present conflict, terror; harm.

Afghan Hands gives women a voice from a nation deafened by war. On behalf of the women of Afghan Hands, I'd like to extend an invitation for you to support Afghan Hands and the women we proceed alongside, by donating one minute of time to participate in the Afghan Hands 60-Second Superstar Screen-Test Project: Your words, your vision; 60 seconds to enact tangible change in communities throughout Afghanistan.
